Project Role & Details
Client: Illinois Central Railroad
Location: Fort Dodge, IA
Contractor Project Manager. This Iowa River railroad bridge project included the removal and replacement of a 205-foot truss with two new through-plate girders. A new intermediate pier was constructed prior to the main span change-out. Removal and replacement of the spans was done in a 24-hour track window in which trains were stopped. At the end of the 24 hour window, trains were running on the new bridge. The project also included the construction of a temporary bridge to allow equipment (cranes) access and facilitate staging activities.
