Client: City of Chicago
Location: Chicago, IL
Project Manager responsible for design and plan preparation of streetscape and street improvements on Broadway Avenue from Belmont Street to Addison Street. Project client was Chicago Department of Transportation. This project included designing new grades for entire roadway to improve poor drainage. Grading also assured positive drainage away from commercial storefronts. Maintenance of traffic was a substantial issue for pedestrian traffic as well as vehicular traffic. Phasing, along with traffic switches and continual access to businesses along the route were of high importance. Since all the sidewalks were replaced, along with substantial excavation to allow for planting soil, building access became a challenge. Corner bumps outs were designed to allow for kiosks and various hardscape items. Performed several iterations of kiosk/planter designs with input by community groups.
