Project Role & Details

Client: Canadian Pacific Railroad
Location: LaCrosse, WI, Mississippi River, French Island

Contractor Project Manager for Mississippi River bridge replacement/rehabilitation of this highly traveled WI, MN rail link.  Project involved replacement of main bridge center truss span with two through plat girders.  The existing 200’+ truss was raised and floated off the sub-structure using river barges.  The two replacement spans were then installed on previously constructed sub-structure using the same float-in technique with river barges and tug boats.  The entire span change-out was completed in a train down-time window of 18 hours.  At the end of the 18 hours, trains were running on the new bridge structure.
